The Eaglen family came back on Sunday for a few more family shots and some "1 year old" photos of Delaney. While most of the photos from the first shoot were taken in the studio with a Christmas theme, we decided to try another backdrop and a few new ideas. Delaney was all smiles and we caught some priceless moments of Alyson and her little girl.

Liz and Joe asked me to capture some pictures of the newest addition to the Barrett family, Kona, their Labradoodle puppy. We met at Burke Lake Regional Park to give Kona plenty of open space to run and play. All he needed were a few treats and Kona worked the camera like a pro. I think they make a pretty great family!

Last weekend Allison and I joined some of my long-time friends, Jennie and Jason Skerker, at Ticonderoga Farms in Chantilly, VA. They invited us along to capture Addie, their little one, helping daddy chop down their Christmas tree! She was so excited when they finally found the perfect tree!

We had so much fun at the farm that we decided to extend our photo session and take it back to the studio. Addie was full of personality and energy. She had so many great expressions and brought a smile to everyone's face. What a great photo shoot!

Over the past several months I have had the chance to take several photos of James and Lance. These boys are FULL of energy. This past shoot we went to Burke Lake to take advantage of some November foliage. It was a beautiful autumn afternoon, except, with the recent time change the sunset crept up pretty fast. We found ourselves running around much of the park trying to capture some final well lit moments before the sun set over the trees. It was an adventure to say the least.

Southern Maryland Youth Flag Football | Covey Photography | Waldorf, MD

Covey Photography is off and running! Looking into different realms of photography I recently came in contact with Metro Sports Images, an up-and-coming action sports photography business based in Alexandria, VA.  This weekend, they sent me to Waldorf, MD to catch the Southern Maryland Youth Flag Football Playoffs. Let me just say what a thrill it was. It was true football weather, cold and sunny, with NFL-type music blaring through North Point Stadium. It was a real great experience. One I hope to be a part of next year. Anyway, I wanted to share my photos that were taken of my games. I will point you in the direction of the Metro Sports Images website. Many times Allison, my wife, my supermodel, gets stuck being my guinea pig. She doesn't like getting her picture taken so I am very thankful she allows me to practice different techniques with her as my model. Here is a photo I took of her at Hartland Orchard in Markham, VA.

This weekend has been a good one. I received my new Nikon 70-200mm lens on Friday and fell in love. I have been practicing all weekend. It's more than a lens, weighing six pounds, I can get a workout too. Anyway, on Saturday Allison and I were driving around C-Ville on errands, heading North on Route 29 towards Fairfax, when a deer sprinted in front of the car in front of us. Allison made some quick maneuvering decisions and all was good.  Even better, with a seconds notice I was able to catch the deer in mid-air.

I caught two photos. The first I didn't realize I got till I got home and looked closer. When looking into the small viewfinder the deer blended into the background. The second photo, well, I was to slow. I know... I know, maybe next time.

Over the past two months I have been taking photos for landscaping company The Lawn Barber. The project required me to take shots of company employees for their website. Also, Brian Ulsh, Lawn Barber owner, wanted to capture his work force "in action." The last element of this project was to display before and after photos of various landscape projects the team completed. The company is based in Hampton, VA but also stretches its reach to areas in Northern Virginia. Below, I put together a slideshow showcasing a website photos and before and after photos. Enjoy!

This weekend I traveled down to Hampton, VA to complete a project for The Lawn Barber. I must say that is actually nice traveling when there is no traffic, especially when driving down Interstate 95. Anyway, when our "after" shots were taken, Brian asked me if I would be willing to take some shots of him and his wife Heather. We travelled to Williamsburg, VA.
