Three Families and Four Generations

On November 16, 2011 we welcomed the newest addtion to the Covey crew into the world, Violet Miriam Lamb.  My sister Jen was hoping I could grab a shot or two for a baby announcement/Christmas card.  Violet couldn't have been more cooperative as she laid curled up in my mom's antique coal bucket on a festive Christmas blanket.  We had no choice but to plop on the Santa hat!  During the same session, we got a few photographs of the four beautiful generations of the Himes/Covey/Lamb families.

The Hutzel Family Welcomes Claire!

The Hutzel family is close friends to us. We work together at school and in fact, Tess (their first born) was the first youngin' I shot, with only a black sheet, camera, and a dream to start a business in photography. When they asked me to take photos of their second little girl, Claire, I was honored. I wanted to try some new and different shots. My goal was to capture modern and candid shots. Here are few of my favorites!

The Hawthorne Sisters at Sully Plantation

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect November morning last weekend at Sully Plantation with the Hawthorne girls. Cassie and Brianna weren't too excited about a photo shoot at first, but once they wriggled out of their tights, ditched the shoes, and got a chance to explore the grounds and play in the leaves, all was well!  We caught some sisterly love and sweet smiles...

The Murphy Family at Sully Plantation

I've found that some of the coolest moments to capture are those shared by new and growing families. Last Saturday we met the Murphy family at Sully Plantation for some family photos. The photos from this session make it easy to see that Chad, Anna, and their son Tyler can't get enough of one another. Their laid-back personalities helped me to photograph more natural family fun, rather than posed portraits.

The Banua Family

It's not often that an entire family is all together in one place! Last weekend the Banua clan gathered in Sterling for the weekend, so we got out the camera to document. I don't photograph large groups as often, so it was a fun challenge to get all 13 people together for a great family photo! While we were there, I got a few shots of the recently engaged couple! Congratulations!
